R. Shea is a small brewing operation in Akron, OH (est. 2011) started by the company's namesake, Ron Shea. Ron has a background in Biology and Chemistry, so the beers are made with precision and science in mind. All of the beers are produced via pressurized fermentation, which eliminates the additional step of carbonation that is taken by many other breweries. As you walk in the brewery, there's a wall dedicated to drinking Akron beer and a "Coming Soon" section to let you know what's on deck. The colorful and artistic beer signs are hung above the brewing tanks and add a fun flare to the typical beer list. Speaking of the beer list - a separate paper list, where you circle the brews you are interested in tasting, allows the bartender to quickly grab the beers you want and you still have tasting notes to review while sipping your flight. The flight itself was interesting, using a plastic style holder that you could see through versus a wooden holder that blocks the view. It could also be directly written on, which was an added benefit.
R. Shea's website has a ton of content - a whole section on how the brewery got started and every step of the way since - and I would highly recommend you check it out! There's also a link to Ron's personal Untappd! account where he encourages you to add him! Overall this was a great experience and I can't wait to get back and try some other carefully crafted brews from R. Shea!
